| Safety Tip # 1: When handling powerful snakes (boas and pythons) here at the Sanctuary we always follow these size guidelines. One person can usually handle a snake up to six feet in length by themselves. Two people are required for snakes between six and ten feet. Three to four people are needed for snakes ten to fifteen feet. The larger constrictors over fifteen feet require four or more people to handle them safely. Even if the snake has never shown any signs of aggression and you feel comfortable handling them by yourself it is always best to know you have back-up if you need it. |
